3D INVERSION RESULTS OF MT DATA FROM THE DEAD SEA BASIN

  • The long periods MT (LMT) and Broad Band (BBMT) data used in this study are collected in 2006.
  • Total number of sites is 150.
  • Site spacing vary between ~ 2 km and 500 m.
  • The MT data cover the period range from ~0.001s to ~3000s.
  • The 3D model spans an area of ~ 200 km in EW direction and ~ 50 km in NS direction.
  • The MT data resolve structures up to a depth of ~ 40 km.

In this video we show the conductive and resistive structures obtained from inverting the Dead Sea MT data. The most obvious resistive structure coincides with the location of the Al-Lisan Salt Diapir.

3D view shows the main conductive and resistive structures obtained from the 3D inversion of the Dead Sea Basin MT data. The thick conductive anomaly at the southern part coincides with the Sedimentary formations of the southern sub-basin. The resistive structures related to the crystallized Halite of the Al-Lisan Salt Diapir.
